0.2: Upgrades, New Cards, and Tradeoffs


Version 0.2 is live! Here's what has changed:

Meta-Progression Redesign

  • "Collection" renamed to Upgrades — clearer signal that there are things to buy and improve- Milestones separated into their own screen with a dedicated main menu button
  • Upgrades tabs reordered: Cards first (most exciting), then Perks, then Cosmetics
  • Locked cards now show their unlock condition (e.g., "Reach a 25-hit combo")
  • Post-run interstitial: after each run, a screen shows fragments earned, milestones unlocked, and newly revealed items — with a direct "VIEW UPGRADES" button
  • Depth selector on main menu now shows a tooltip listing all active modifiers for the selected depth

New Cards (11)

  • Tunnel Vision (Speed, uncommon) — Ball 25% faster, hit zone 15% larger
  • Streak Runner (Speed, uncommon) — Each brick hit increases score by 8%, stacking
  • Quick Release (Speed, common) — Ball 10% faster, +0.5s combo window
  • Friendly Fire (Multiball, uncommon) — 15% chance extra ball on destroy, take 15% more damage
  • Overclock (Multiball, common) — Ball 15% faster, +1 ball per section
  • Shatter Point (Precision, common) — +10% crit chance, -15% ball damage
  • Exposed Core (Precision, uncommon) — Bricks -30% HP, -15 max HP
  • Reactive Armor (Tank, common) — -20% damage taken, ball 10% slower
  • High Roller (Neutral, rare) — +20% score, -30% currency earned
  • Volatile Zones (Zone, uncommon) — Zone effects 40% stronger, zones 30% shorter
  • Zone Siphon (Zone, common) — Zone orbs 30% more frequent, -5% score

Bug Fixes

  • Arrow keys and space no longer scroll the browser page when playing in non-fullscreen mode
  • Card descriptions now show on hover on the game over screen
  • Reroll cost escalation increased (10 → 20 → 30 → 40 per reroll, was +5)

Balance

  • Reduced bloom and vignette intensity on later levels for better visibility
  • Reduced overdrive bloom boost to prevent visual washout
  • Fixed card descriptions: Momentum, Explosive Chain, Chain Lightning, Volatile Payload now accurately describe their effects
  • Swapped Chain Lightning (now uncommon, 150 cost) and Volatile Payload (now rare, 190 cost) to match their relative power
